My Commitment to Accessibility
I want this site to be usable by as many people as possible - including if you're using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, or have low vision or another disability. Accessibility isn't an afterthought; it's something I try to build in from the start, the same way I think about clear communication in every part of working with me.
Standards I Aim For
I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA - the widely-used benchmark for an accessible website. This site is built on WordPress with Elementor and the Astra theme, and I've made deliberate choices within that setup to support accessibility rather than work against it.
What I've Done So Far
In practice, that means: semantic HTML headings and page structure, so content still makes sense if it's read out of order or via assistive technology; descriptive alt text on images, so you know what you're looking at even if you can't see it; a site you can navigate using a keyboard alone, without needing a mouse; text and background colours chosen for reasonable contrast; and responsive layouts that work on phones, tablets and desktops without content getting cut off or overlapping.
Known Limitations
This is a one-person business, and I don't have a dedicated accessibility team or an unlimited testing budget. I've checked the site using automated tools and manual keyboard/screen-reader spot-checks, but I can't guarantee every page, embedded video, or plugin is fully accessible. Third-Party Content
Where I embed third-party tools - for example video hosting or contact forms - those services have their own accessibility standards, which may differ from mine and which I don't control directly. If you run into a problem with one of these, let me know and I'll do what I can to work around it or find an alternative.
